50's are back ...

Logan's 5th Grade class had their music program. All the songs from the 50's. This was one of the better one since they had all good songs. Logan even had a speaking part.

I don't think it's ever going to be possible to get there early enough to nab an up front seat. These parents get there early at least an hour before the program starts.

This morning I made some tasty Almond cookies with red sugar sprinkles.
This weekend I really need to start all my candy making for the holidays. I always give some away to family. I am sure they'd miss it, if I decided to just forget doing a cookie/candy basket.
It was another really cold morning. - 6 F, but felt like -20F. I'm loving the heated seats in our rental car. Still no word on when my Toyota will be repaired but I'm okay with that.  4 wheel drive is really great to have. I'm never getting a SUV again with out heated seats and 4 wheel drive. It's a must!

I had Steve try my workout on the Cross Ramp today. After all, I did his yesterday! We had the resistance at 11, incline up to 16 and down to 12.. (hills) and ran forward for 30 minutes, then backward increasing the resistance to 12 for 15 minutes, then forward for the last 15 minutes. 60 minutes and 6.3 miles! His reaction.. it's hard! He tried to run his fast 20 minutes but only lasted about 15 seconds then slowed down again. I know we will both go back to doing what we like tomorrow. Oh, that' right! Tomorrow is Saturday... I'll be going it alone. Saturday or Sunday is my 2 hour...12 mile running days.. Maybe not both days but at least one.

Cookies.. new stuff and weather

I have been in the mood to bake since the kids took that cookie making class. I finally had the time this morning to make a new cookie! Gingersnaps! I had to sample the cookie dough. I know it's not the best to eat raw eggs but I can't help myself. Cookie dough is my favorite thing to eat.. it's better then cookies!
I used this molasses because on the back side of this bottle is a really easy recipe!
I call them gingersnaps.. they call them Molasses crinkle cookies... I think next time I'll add just a little more sugar.. I like them extra sweet. Super easy to make.. and luckily I had all the ingredients.
I rolled  the dough into sugar... Maybe they need the larger grainy sugar?
Steve thinks I should have rolled them out to make them thin and crispy. I like soft cookies.. but maybe I'll try that idea later.. I have extra left over cookie dough.

Just 10 quick minutes and the cookies were done!
I have big plans to make candies and more cookies for the holidays. My plan is to make all my favorites and add in some new ones too.
My Ipod's arm band was not working at all. The strap was too stretched out from me making it tighter and tighter on my arm. The only thing left to do.. Get a new one. They didn't have the exact one I use to have and loved.. But this new one so far is working out GREAT! No more slipping down my arm and sharp plastic poking my skin. It was also time for more ear buds. I really do go through these things! Its a small investment to keep me wanting to workout.. Little things do make a huge difference.. never underestimate the power of that!
We had more snow yesterday.. the kind of snow that comes down in huge chunks and in my opinion is the best kind of snow.. While we were shopping yesterday we got to enjoy it.. and I really hope we get enough so I can start cross training..on Cross country skis! We are expecting up to 4".. plenty of snow to get the skis out! I can't wait!!!!!
I had leftover pasta for dinner last night and we made those yummy chicken covered in potato chips.. with hot sauce.
The kids wanted to Steve to try frying them in peanut oil.. they were good fried but even better baked and somewhat better for us.. not fried.
Not only did I get a new arm band.. but today, I get my car fixed from the damage from the crash.. plus new tires by the end of the week. Even with the roads snow covered this morning... off to the gym.. hardly anyone was there. We just did our running on the cross ramp for the hour and came home. At least watching the weather/news on TV this morning kept my mind occupied and time flew by..

Staying Positive.. Mostly??

There it is... SNOW!!! We just might have a white Christmas after all and I might be able to get out the cross country skis! Trying here to stay positive about winter.
Love the view from our front window.  Glad Steve put the new tree up right in front of the house. It really feels more like Christmas time.
I'm not sure who had a harder time getting out the door this morning to workout.. me or Steve? We were dragging our feet which only means little time for weights after our 60 minute run.
I must have really worked my legs out... I walked up the stairs and had to lay down on the bed while my legs felt so heavy and tired. I'm looking at that as a good sign of pushing myself to be more fit! Think Positive right?
These darn cookies the kids made are super delicious. They were calling me after dinner. I ended up standing over the box of chocolate covered orange cookies eating about four without much thought. On the positive side.. I ate healthy the rest of the day.. today I will try and work on those 10 pounds again..
Has anyone ever contacted a shoe company and gotten any response? I am wondering if it will help to complain about my Brooks Running Shoes? I just don't understand how these fairly new shoes could have two holes? I'm not sure I'd ever buy this brand again if this is the results?? They are my favorite pair of running shoes but not if they won't last. I'm also not one to complain, but given the fact this running shoes are crazy expensive... Its worth my efforts. I'll let you know how it goes.

Cooking it up!

I liked this quote I found hanging up on a wall at the Global Market yesterday..
The kids were busy taking a cookie making class at the Kitchen in the Market while Steve and I wondered around..
The class was all about making cookies and getting 4 dozen to bring home. I would have loved to do this class to, but I do baking many cookies on my own.
Logan really got into the baking. He kind of took over learning from the chef.
We all learned some new orange rind grating skills...
Celina and Logan had fun figuring out how to making cookies. These orange chocolate cookies were my favorites.
I think these two are going to be good bakers!

All the yummy cookies. Now the kids both want to take another cooking class but make dinner instead.

What's your favorite Christmas cookie? Raspberry thumbprint
Candy?  Caramels and peanut brittle
