Run...swim... Run... and maybe Bike!

It's important to figure out what I should wear for this tri. Today I needed to test the water/run.

Ran 4.35 miles to the pool.. then home 4.35 miles in 43 minutes, both ways.. and took a dip in the pool just enough to get wet from head to toe and then see how I felt running soaking wet. Really similar to being sweaty soaking wet only cooler feeling..

I still need to bike.. that 15 miles non stop.. Yesterday Steve and I biked 9 but stopped 3x's.. one for the bank/bread, then to Mc's and the last stop his parents house..

Maybe today I'll do that but for now.. it's off to work so no rest for me! Hopefully I'll figure out my phone/photo issue and have some more pix to share.

Four in 40.05 seconds!

That's right. I must have felt some what speedy this morning.. Not sure if it had anything to do with a big storm coming?
I ran my very hilly route in 40 minutes and 5 seconds.. It's been taking 45 minutes. I'm just going the speed I feel like.. not too hard, nice and easy pace.

You might be wondering how I did yesterday on my food plan?

It certainly was not perfect. I did go off the plan a bit. I had one chicken finger with lunch with BBQ sauce. I also had a very small bowl of ice cream 1/2 cup around 8:30pm, then finished off our camping  cookies 1-1/2 white chocolate macadamia nut. I did eat 2 slices of my whole grain bread w/PB at each meal plus, had a banana. I stayed around 1500 calories which is exactly the amount I allowed myself for the day.

Today's meal plan is rice.. white and brown evenly mixed. I know brown rice is a lot better for me then white, I just like the combo with tons and I mean tons of salsa!

A.M. 1 slice whole grain bread w/peanut butter - chunky
noon - 1 cup (mixed white/brown) rice w/ as much salsa as I can eat
eve - 1 cup (mixed white/brown) rice w/ tons of salsa
Snack- blue berries 1 cup or more.. they are so low in calorie and so good!

It's also very helpful if I tell Steve my food plan. Sometimes he has his own meal -Dinner plan and I need to stick to my plan if I'm to lose the 10 pounds I gained.

I also decided since I haven't been going to the gym, I won't weight myself until I do go back. Is this a good idea? Not sure but I will find out!

3 Sport Morning.

What a perfect morning.. Hot, over cast and summer.. Best day ever to get in a 7 mile run, do my ab workout for 10 minutes, bike for 40 minutes and swim for 10.. I know.. the swimming was short but I made the most out of it..
I found the right swim/bike combo outfit, but haven't done the running part with just a sports bra. I'm thinking that's the way to go? I might feel a bit exposed running so I'm re-thinking that??? I don't want to waste a bunch of time trying to get a tank top on. It's bad enough I will be putting on a bike shirt.
I laid out all my stuff to see what it would be like to transition from swimming to biking. I have never heard a peep about if anyone experiences feeling cold from going from the swim to biking. Your all wet and with the breeze from biking I never seem to warm up my legs/butt?? Which makes me think.. I might need to go without the biking shorts in the swim and put them on to bike?
Decisions.. decisions!!!
Steve was cooking a roast for pulled pork sandwiches last night. I ate a very late dinner due to soccer being over at 8pm last night. I should have taken a photo of my meal.. yum!

Time to watch what I eat for the next week.. This is what my food plan will be..

Today..
breakfast, lunch and dinner.. 2 slices of whole grain bread w/chunky peanut butter toasted at each meal. 900 calories total.
1/2 banana.. 50 calories.

Tuesday
Breakfast, lunch and dinner 1 cup rice (brown/white/mixed) with lots of fresh salsa 900 calories or under???

Wednesday- (veggies all meals) zucchini, tomato sauce, carrots, sweet potato, edamome.. as much as I want. all low calories

Thursday - A combo of the above
Friday- ??

I'm making a choice to pre-plan meals and leave nothing to chance. If  I go off a little that's okay.. I'll just get right back on track.

Just trying to stay under 1500 calories per day.

Getting over the face in the lake?

I'm not sure how I'm going to do this.. How will I ever want to swim laps in the lake?
There is fish.. slimy stuff.. algae.. big fish with teeth..not to mention all that microscopic stuff you can't see but know it's there!

What's my plan?

  • Do as much lap swimming in the pool as possible.. at least I will know I can swim and have the endurance.
  • This weekend actually swim laps while in the lake.. It's a clear lake.. not as creepy.. Good practice!
  • Find a race tri that the lake is nice... is there really such a thing as a nice lake? I'm beginning to wonder??
  • Just do it... Take the plunge.. don't think about it..
I'll be doing my first race of the year in a few weeks.. I'm going to run a 6pm trail race that's only 3 miles but could include lots of hills and very rough terrain. I'm obviously not going to run for time.. but just to do it.. I think this should be fun, not painfully fast.

I do need to get out and start doing more trails.. the dirt roads do provide some rough terrain training, but not enough!

My 3 day Slug time..

I did forget.. I swam laps in the pool for at least 15 minutes non-stop of breast stroke.. and swam with the kids.. We dove for money on the bottom of the pool.
It wasn't all laying around being a slug over the 4th of July holiday..
We did a lot of boating.. fishing...floating..
 Wine tasting.. and eating..

 Camping... sleeping..
laying on the beach, laying on the dock, laying in the grass and laying on a raft floating up and down with the waves..
Logan and Celina did a ton of fishing..
More fishing on the boat and going for a ride around the lake

I spent a ton of time on the jet ski... we had perfect waves.. HUGE.. just the way I like it..
A few DQ treats... Because when one is on vacation.. you must treat yourself
And of course everyone slept in the car... Its hard work having that much fun..

Celina trying out the  new 2 person raft.. or 1...

 Dock nap...

Plus.. tons of fireworks..I'll have to add some photos!
